Crafting in the age of the internet leads to new discoveries and old techniques...

An exploratory expedition into the depths of my parents' basement revealed this old tank of a sewing machine. It's an old White Family Rotary machine; from my research, I think it's circa the early 1920s. I've been playing with a gentle vinegar bath to try and get that rust off. We'll see how/if the restoration process manages to move forward. I'd love to see if I can learn to quilt with this iron giant!

The cozy crochet project to the right is the first blanket I ever made, and my first major yarn project. I learned to crochet by watching Youtube videos - I'm so grateful for those kind and generous folks who took the time to create "how to" videos. Thank you for sharing your time, talent and skills! Modern tech meets the granny square!
